Universal is backing The Mummy with solid publicity
To pay according tribute to the studio’s biggest summer hit, Universal Home Video is celebrating the home video release of The Mummy in a big way. The celebration will begin with the official unwrapping of the Halloween Horror Nights Mummy Maze at Universal Studios as part of a big party with Arnold Vosloo and director Stephen Sommers, Universal Home Video will also conduct a multi-city media and mall tour promoting the home video launch of the film.
The coast-to-coast tour encompasses Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta and Minneapolis, and culminates in a special appearance at Universal Studios Escape in Orlando.
Serving as spokesperson for the multi-city tour is Sara Karloff, daughter of the late Universal Studios star Boris Karloff, who is joined by such Universal Studios classic monsters as Frankenstein, Dracula and The Mummy. In each market, the tour will be showcased on local television and radio, and make a “meet and greet” appearance at one of the market’s top malls, including the Manhattan Mall, New York; Mall of America, Minneapolis; Glendale Galleria, Los Angeles; Serramonte Center, San Francisco; Northpark Center, Dallas; Northbrook Court Mall, Chicago; and Southlake Mall, Atlanta.
Universal Studios Home Video Halloween has also mounted The Mummy Halloween Radio Network, an exciting radio station promotion that provides participating radio stations customized promo ID’s and Halloween Safety PSA’s narrated by “The Mummy” star Arnold Vosloo.
An official The Mummy Website has also been launched featuring “The Treasure Hunt Sweepstakes” which will award consumers a grand prize trip to the
Luxor Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas, along with information on the film.
