After a critically acclaimed nationwide theatrical release, Palm Pictures is now releasing the digitally re-mixed and re-mastered Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense, by Academy Award-Winning director Jonathan Demme and cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth on DVD.

In their 11 year career between 1977 and 1988, Talking Heads established themselves as one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the “80s. They refined a sound that was equal parts art-funk, polyrhythmic worldbeats, and melodic guitar pop on a string of masterful albums, including Fear of Music (1979), Speaking in Tongues (1983), and Little Creatures (1985), spawning such pop hits as “Psycho Killer,” “Burning Down The House,” “Once In A Lifetime,” and “Road To Nowhere.”

Widely acknowledged as the best concert film of all time, “Stop Making Sense” chronicles the climax of the Talking Heads” 1983 tour. Faithfully documenting the stage show conceived by David Byrne and performed by Talking Heads, Demme and Cronenweth created a multi-media spectacle with each of the songs offering a visual landscape reflecting the panorama of Byrne personas. Few concert films have caused as much excitement as the dancing-in-the-aisles reaction that “Stop Making Sense” elicited from audiences during its wildly popular theatrical release.

The “Stop Making Sense” DVD has a discrete Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and Stereo mixes. The 88-minute concert DVD includes the bonus tracks “Cities,” “Big Business,” and “I Zimbra” that were not included in the theatrical release.
Frontman David Byrne and Director Jonathan Demme each have a commentary track on the production of the concert and the making of the film. Other bonus features on the DVD include a storyboard-to-scene comparison, the original theatrical film trailer and photos, bios, discography and a web link.
