European DVD Production conference scheduled for May

LONDON, Feb. 6 — DVD PRODUCTION EUROPE 99, the leading event
in the European DVD conference schedule has announced its outline programme.
The Conference, which follows on from DVD PRODUCTION 98 in Hollywood, will be
held on May 24-25, 1999 at the Conference Forum in London.

The two day event covers both business and production issues surrounding
European DVD. The programme has been developed to meet the needs of video,
music and games content owners and those working within the DVD, CD and video
production chains. The conference presents a strategic view of the European
market and the production chain, including choice of content, disc
manufacturing, copy protection, cross-territory copyright and distribution
agreements, packaging and retailing. Whilst the main theme is DVD-Video,
there are parallel presentation streams for DVD ROM & Games and Audio on DVD.
Throughout there will be examples of “best practice” and investigations into
which elements contribute to a successful DVD release.

The Conference includes a copy of the DVD Report III, and a party at the
Abbey Road recording studio, where the first European DVD Production Europe
Craft Awards will be presented.

The programme for DVD Production Europe 99’s presentations has been
developed by a team of experienced DVD practitioners to deliver authoritative
information and challenging views on the European DVD market.

“Now that DVD has been launched in Europe and is succeeding, there is a
growing demand for information specific to developing and commercialising DVD
in the European countries,” said Conference Chairman, Tim Frost. “DVD
Production Europe 99’s programme will give attendees a real opportunity to
learn from companies with direct links with the European DVD market; the major
DVD business leaders and technologists who have real experience of DVD in
Europe.”
