A&E enters the DVD market with 60’s cult series
A new player enters the DVD market in the form of A&E Home Video. The company,
which is mostly responsible for some classic and excellent TV programming has
just announced their plans to release their highly successful franchise, the
Original Avengers. Marking a substantial commitment to the DVD market, A&E
has plans to release the entire collection from the series with a total of
162 episodes on disc over the next few years.
Starting the lineup is The Avengers “67, Sets 1 & 2 to be released on
March 16. The discs will contain 12 classic episodes from the 1967 season.
All releases will be packaged in two collectible configurations: 2-disc boxed
set for $39.95 and single discs priced at $19.95.
The Avengers Set 1 & 2 offers 12 digitally remastered episodes from the series”
fifth season including “From Venus With Love”, “The Winged Avenger” and
“Never, Never Say Die”. The DVD releases will also contain The Original
Avengers Production Stills Gallery, a collection of rare, high-quality
production shots and stills from the series.
Following the initial release in March, A&E Home Video will unveil the Avengers
DVD sets 3 & 4, including classics such as “Return Of The Cybernauts” and “Forget
Me Not”. A&E plans to release all of the Avenger episodes featuring Emma Peel
