The Golden Globe Award Nominations are in
This morning the Golden Globe Award Nominations have been publicly announced
and as expected they give nods to some of the best filmed entertainment from
the year of 1998. The Golden Globe Awards are usually a good indication about
how juries feel and what kind of nominations can be expected for the
prestigious Academy Awards.
Leading the pack is Paramount’s “The Truman Show” with six nominations,
including another very deserved one for actor Jim Carrey, as did “Shakespeare
In Love”, which earned Gwyneth Paltrow a nomination as best actress. Overall,
Paramount Pictures led among studios with 12 nominations,
with Miramax Films and Universal Pictures following with 11 apiece.
On the TV end, NBC’s “Just Shoot Me” received five nominations, with
ABC’s “Dharma and Greg” and NBC’s “ER” garnering four apiece,
and Fox’s “Ally McBeal” and “The X-Files” each getting three. NBC
led in nominations among the TV networks with 20, followed by 12
for ABC and nine for HBO.
