Rumble in Hollywood. The Universal clean-up continues
This news just came in. After the forced resignation of Frank Biondi Jr. from
his position at Universal Studios as chairman and chief executive exactly two
weeks ago, Universal Pictures today announced the forced resignment of its
chairman Casey Silver.Silver’s division didn’t seem to live up to expectations
with expensive boxoffice disappointments such as “Meet Joe Black” and “Babe:
Pig in the City”.
Universal Studios’ president and chief operating officer, Ron Meyer, has been
announced as Silver’s replacement. Silver had been head of Universal’s movie
production, marketing and distribution since November 1995. No exact reasons
for the resignation were announced.
