Although we usually focus on DVD Video coverage, the following announcements struck us interesting, being a direct spin-off from Paramount’s Star Trek line. After some time of waiting, Interplay Productions have just release the DVD version of their highly acclaimed PC game “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy”.

Although the title is only playable on DVD-ROM drives, we are sure the title will be well received throughout the DVD community. This DVD version of the game completely eliminates disc swapping and finally presents the game’s full 220 minutes of original video footage, starring numerous members of the original Star Trek cast, including William Shatner and George Taikei, in flawless MPEG-2 quality.
“Star Trek: Starfleet Academy” is a DVD-ROM only title and will not be playable on DVD video players.
