Although this season marked the departure of Keenan Wayans as an acting member from the show, "In Living Color" still went strong in its fourth year, offering up some great and memorable skits and bits. Now most of the pieces are now carried by Damon Wayans, Jim Carrey, Kelly Coffield, Jamie Foxx and David Allen Grier in this season, but as usual all the other cast members through their comedic talents in the mix as well when needed. Interestingly the show somehow feels even shorter than before, in part because the closing acts are getting a lot more time than they did before, eating somewhat into actual comedy time.
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is presenting "In Living Color: Season 4" as a 3-disc DVD set. The image is clean and clear without defects or blemishes. Color reproduction is strong, rendering natural looking images with faithful skin tones. Black levels are solid and create well defined shadows that give the image visual depth, avoiding a flat look. No edge-enhancement is evident and the compression is without flaws.
The release comes with the original stereo audio track in Dolby Digital. It is balanced with a natural frequency response resulting in good fidelity. The dynamic range is good making sure the mostly dialogue-driven presentation is coming across nicely undistorted.
For fans of the show there can be no question that they will have to stock up on this release as well as the previous ones. Without commercials and in top presentation quality, this is the way "In Living Color" is meant to be experienced.
