Warner Brothers Home Entertainment is preparing a new DVD release of the Alaskan psychological thriller Insomnia.

Sent from the city to investigate the murder of a teenage girl in a small Alaska town, a veteran LAPD detective accidentally shoots his partner while trying to apprehend a suspect. Instead of admitting his guilt, the detective is given an unexpected alibi, but as an ever-shining Midnight Sun wreaks sleep-depriving havoc on his body clock — and multiplies the emotional complexity and guilt over his partner’s death — his investigation begins to falter. Meanwhile, a local detective conducts her own personal investigation… of the partner’s death.

The DVD will be available in separate widescreen and fullscreen releases. Both will contain Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and will feature an audio commentary by director Christopher Nolan presented in the order the film was shot, a second commentary by Hilary Swank and filmmakers, 180°: A Conversation with Christopher Nolan and Al Pacino; an on-camera interview, In the Fog; a featurette exploring Insomnia’s cinematography and the design of the “fog” sequence with two separately selectable audio tracks; one with director of photography Wally Pfister and the second with production designer Nathan Crowley, Day For Night: The Making of Insomnia documentary, an Eyes Wide Open featurette on insomnia the sleep disorder, an extended scene with optional director’s commentary, a gallery of theatrical posters, stills and production designs, the theatrical trailer and DVD-ROM content.

This impressive disc will be priced at $26.98, and will be available to own on October 15th.
