Blu-Ray takes a demanding lead
As Q1 of the fiscal year starts letting the reports roll in, it looks like Blu-ray is a good way ahead of HD-DVD. Of the high definition sales in the first three months of 2007, 70% of the discs were Blu-ray with the remainding discs being HD-DVD. Although HD-DVD launched months before Blu-ray, the latter format gained ground on its competitor. Currently there are an estimated 1.2 million BRDs in homed and 937,500 HD-DVDs. With the recent numbers, it looks as though the Blu-ray sales are now becoming dominant.
