’I Love You To Death’ is a black comedy that is absolutely funny and hair-raising at times. Featuring the comedic talents of Kevin Kline and Tracy Ullman in the leads, the cast is completed by River Phoenix, William Hurt, Joan Plowright and Keanu Reeves. The result is an absolutely hilarious story about a pizza-baking, womanizing husband who becomes the target of his scorned wife. When she learns that he’s cheating on her she decides to kill her. Having no experience with such things however, she needs a little help. And help she finds in some of the most bumbling contract killers imaginable – who are new to this just as well.
Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment presents the movie in an anamorphic widescreen version, as well as a fullscreen transfer on this DVD. The transfer is very clean and clear without defects and blemishes. Color reproduction is faithful, recreating the natural look of the production without any deviation. Black levels are good, creating solid shadows and deep blacks. No edge-enhancement is evident and the compression has been handled very well.
The DVD contains the original Dolby Surround track of the film, complemented by subtitles in a large variety of languages. The audio is well reproduced with a natural-sounding frequency response and good dynamic range.

’I Love You To Death’ is a fun filled movie that will have you chuckling, giggling and laughing out loud at its absurd situations, its bumbling characters and the wicked story that does not at all turn out the way you would expect. Definitely check out this DVD if you’re looking for a cool comedy.
