New and corrected details have arrived on the previously announced
release of Akira: Special Edition from Pioneer
Entertainment.

The 2-disc Set will contain over 90 minutes of extras including Making
Of Documentaries on the film, the soundtrack, and the
restoration, a Trailer and TV spots. Additional features
include storyboards, key drawings, and character
designs. A 1988 interview with the film’s director will be
included as will an “Akira” Glossary to fill viewers in on the
intricacies of the “Akira” universe.

The disc, which will include an anamorphic widescreen transfer, will also contain the original Japanese 4.0 soundtrack with optional English
subtitles as well as a brand new English 5.1 channel Dolby Digital mix. The disc’s street date has unfortunately been pushed back to a September 25th release date. The disc will retail for $39.95
