Columbia TriStar Home Video is presenting this German action thriller in a 16×9 enhanced widescreen version, as well as a pan & scan transfer. The widescreen presentation is letterboxed in 1.85:1 aspect ratio and shows off an incredible amount of detail. The transfers is absolutely clean without any defects. Colors are strong and absolutely natural, almost leaping off the screen. Blacks are deep and black, highlights are never overexposed and fleshtones are absolutely natural. The compression on this disc is absolutely without flaws, making “Run Lola Run” a stunning experience. The level of detail and the lack of motion artifacts is once again testimony to the level of quality Columbia is bringing to DVD.

The same is true on the audio side. Containing the original German audio tracks as well as English dubbed tracks in both 5.1 channel Dolby Digital and Dolby Surround formats, the quality is outstanding without any audible deficiencies. Spatial integration is good with active surrounds that are hardly ever used only for effects purposes.

“Run Lola Run” is an incredibly stylish and pounding movie with a stunning direction and dramaturgy, while the DVD is topping the mix with this picture-perfect DVD.
