Online retailer DVD Empire has just started a promotion for Artisan Home Entertainment’s upcoming DVD release of The Blair Witch Project.
One thousand necklaces emblazoned with the logo of the indie hit will be given away free to the first 1, 000 customers who pre-order the film on DVD from DVD Empire in advance of its October 26 release.

But this giveaway is only the beginning of a series of 1999 holiday promotions from the pioneering online retailer of DVD and DVD-ROM according. The promotion is a departure for DVD Empire, as so far they have always relied on same-day shipping and “Everyday Low Prices” (30% off list on almost all titles) to stand out from other online retailers.

Congratulations go also out to DVD Empire for shipping their 500,000th DVD recently. It was a copy of Buena Vista’s “Shakespeare In Love” that went to a customer in Ohio.
