Paramount’s October line-up came in – in very bloody 16×9 Halloween fashion
A number of new title announcements from Paramount just came in today, giving DVD owners much to look forward to.
Sean Cunningham’s Friday The 13th and Friday The 13th: Part 2 are finalized for release on October 19, just in time for Halloween. Both films will come in 16×9 enhanced widescreen presentations and contain Dolby Digital soundtracks as well as the film’s original trailers. In “Friday The 13th” the “death curse” on Camp Crystal Lake proves true on Friday the 13th as, one by one, each of the camp counselor’s is stalked by a violent killer. Terror and suspense abound in this 24-hour nightmare of blood. In the second part of the series, which plays five years after the horrible bloodbath on Camp Crystal Lake, all that remains of Jason and his demented mother is the legend. Then counselors at a nearby camp are attacked and brutally slaughtered.
Paramount also has a few titles for fans of less blood-luster releases in their line-up, including Ferris Bueller’s Day Off on October 19. In this comedy by John Hughes“ Matthew Broderick decides to play hooky from school for the day and manages to cram it with a lifetime’s worth of adventure. The disc will contain a commentary track and a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer.
Election is another film on the list, starring Reese Witherspoon as a straight go-getter determined to be president of her student body. Popular teacher, Matthew Broderick decides to derail her obsessive overachieving by recruiting an opposition candidate. This disc will also contain a commentary track and a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer.
Clueless is next on the list, starring Alicia Silverstone as the most popular and glamorous girl of Beverly Hills High. Presented in a 16×9 enhanced widescreen transfer this disc contains only a trailer.
For all “Star Trek” fans, Paramount is also preparing two more releases from the original TV series. Star Trek 3: TV#6 & #7 and Star Trek 4: TV#8 & #9 will feature Episode #6 The Man Trap: When the USS Enterprise’s landing party arrives on a planet, a nightmare unfolds as several die. #7 Naked Time: Sent to pick up a research team, the USS Enterprise finds scientists dead of a deadly disease. Episode #8:Charlie X: The cargo ship Antares transfers a traveller to the USS Enterprise. When the Antares is destroyed, Kirk realizes who is to blame. Episode #9: Balance Of Terror: It’s a game of cat and mouse for Kirk and the Romulan commander. Both discs will contain the original trailers to the episodes.
All these titles from Paramount Home Video will be released on October 19 and it is great to see their 16×9 commitment across the board. You will find more on these and other brand-new announcements in our Release Section later today.
