The disc contains a good pan & scan transfer of the film. Originally framed at a 1.85:1 aspect ratio, the film loses a bit of the picture information on the sides, but it nevertheless creates an actually pleasing image without overly noticeable loss. The colors in this transfer are strong, adding nicely to the film’s good cinematography. The compression is very good maintaining a good level of detail in the shadows with good natural highlights.

Being one of Warner’s low-end line releases, the disc contains only a Dolby Digital Stereo soundtrack, that is nevertheless well converted to this DVD. It makes good use of the limited stereo field however. The movie contains a well-crafted and lively music score that blends nicely with this comedic film.
Unfortunately the disc contains only an English language tracks and foreign language subtitles are sorely missing.

Another one of Steve Martin’s collaboration with director Carl Reiner, this film is hilarious from beginning to end, with atmospheric settings, great acting and gorgeous cinematographgy.
