Despite information we received last week, Columbia Home Video today announced the upcoming release of their summer blockbuster The Mask Of Zorro on DVD today. On December 1, Columbia will release the title day & date on VHS, Laserdisc and DVD!
The DVD will carry a suggested retail price of $24.95 and contain only a widescreen version of this film, starring Antonia Banderas and Anthony Hopkins. The film will contain only an English language version, presented as a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital and a Dolby Surround soundtrack, as well as English subtitles only.
Additional features will include a photo gallery, a “Making Of” featurette and a theatrical trailer. Although we do not have detailed information on the issue yet, it seems that finally even Steven Spielberg’s hold-out on the DVD platform is coming to an end, as “The Mask Of Zorro” is the first Amblin Entertainment title to be released on DVD since the director/producer’s decision to not support DVD in June last year.

On a different note, Columbia Home Video today announced a price reduction for the upcoming DVD release of their smash hit Godzilla. The disc will now carry a suggested retail price of $19.95.
