Macrovision Corporation announced today that Trimark Pictures has signed a one year agreement to use the Macrovision copy protection on all of its future DVD releases. Trimark’s decision to use Macrovision copy protection was made to help ensure the distribution of its DVD program material would not cannibalize its videocassette business or impact the profitability of its retailer customers. Since many video retailers and rental stores are still shying away from DVD out of fear that it might reduce their business in the long run for those reasons, this is an important step to build confidence.
