Under their Palm Pictures label, Manga Entertainment have today announced the release of Dancehall Queen on DVD on August 25. It is Jamaica’s newest reggae film sensation and the highest grossing film in Jamaican history. The film boasts a soundtrack by the best of Jamaica’s current music scene, including Beenie Man, Chevelle Franklin, Bounty Killer, The Marley Girls, Grace Jones, Chaka Demus & Pliers, Sugar Minott and more. The film has been digitally re-mastered for the DVD, which will be available for $29.95 and is distributed through Polygram.
Under their Manga Entertainment label, the company also releases The Secret Adventures Of Tom Thumb on August 25. This remarkable British animation film from the “bolexbrothers” features music by former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones and Startled Insects, as well as Sheep On Drugs. Digitally re-mastered this disc will also contain a 8-minute short film from the “Bolexbrothers”, titled “The Saint Inspector”.
