Once again, HBO is sending the family surrounding Tony Soprano in to the DVD ring to spar with other TV series contenders, and once again, HBO is making a good figure in the process. Running 800-minutes, the box set contains all the episodes of the series’ fourth season, complete with a few extras.
The episodes of the season themselves are nicely complex and rich, full of the Soprano flair that made the show such a runaway hit. Complete wit ha wonderful cliffhanger at the season finale, Season Four certainly has its highlights.
HBO Home Entertainment is presenting the series in an anamorphic widescreen presentation on these DVDs, complete with a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital track. Both the image and the audio are of immaculate quality, making it a pleasure to enjoy the show, and puts it way beyond its broadcast quality. Recaps of the previous seasons are also included in the set, as well as four different audio commentaries with the creators and filmmakers. The set is nicely rounded out by episodic previews and recaps.
Coming in a stylish, glossy silver case this time that follows the packaging of the previous releases, ’The Sopranos’ once again convinces on all ends. It is a superior series, coming as a high quality DVD box set that clearly is a must-buy for all fans. |
