Buena Vista present Eddie Murphy’s latest film in a gorgeous letterbox transfer on this DVD. The image is sharp with plenty of detail and strong colors. The transfer looks very balanced and clean, and the disc’s overall color reproduction is superb. Without flaws is also the compression of the disc. There are no artifacts or chroma noise visible anywhere.
'Holy Man' features a good 5.1 channel Dolby Digital soundtrack that is quite active throughout the lively film. It, too, is well balanced and creates a rich soundstage with good bass extension and a wide surround field. Being a day & date release, the disc unfortunately doesn’t contain any extras, not even a trailer and contains only an English language track.
'Holy Man' is not a comedy in its truest sense as you might expect from Eddie Murphy. It is in fact a critical and extremely cynical movie that looks at the exploitation of people for the sake of business. Although Murphy has his funny moments, don’t expect something as hilarious as many of his previous films. 'Holy Man' is rather serious about itself. |
