The transfer used for this DVD of 'My Left Foot' creates a very clean image with sharp edges and absolutely natural colors. The disc contains a pan & scan transfer of the film that has solid, deep blacks and stable colors throughout. Very well balanced, the picture looks natural with good color saturation and faithfully rendered fleshtones. The compression is well done without chroma noise or pixelation. There is a bit of film grain evident in some scenes however, but it is never obtrusive or distracting.
The disc features a only monaural Dolby Digital soundtrack, but supplies English, French and Spanish subtitles. The soundtrack is well produced, although a bit indistinguishable and muddy at times due to the lack of sonic directions.
'My Left Foot' is a highly acclaimed film that won Daniel Day Lewis an Oscar for Best Actor and Brenda Fricker one as Best Supporting Actress. It is a great drama about the courage and determination based on the real life story of Christy Brown, a talented writer and painter. |
