Ken Burns is bringing people back to PBS this week with The War. The DVD is coming very soon. In fact next week.

The epic, seven-part film directed and produced by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick explores the history and horror of the Second World War from an American perspective through the personal accounts of a handful of men and women from four quintessentially American towns – Waterbury, Connecticut; Mobile, Alabama; Sacramento, California; and the tiny farming town of Luverne, Minnesota. These geographically distributed locations stand in for – and could represent – any town in the United States that went through the war’s four devastating years. The 15-hour film explores the most intimate human dimensions of a worldwide catastrophe and paints a vivid portrait of how the war touched the lives of every family on every street in every town in America.

The DVDs themselves are presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound with all 7 episodes. Additionally, the set will include a making of featurette, audio commentary, deleted scenes, additional interviews, biographies a photo gallery and educational resources.

The DVD arrives on October 2nd and will be priced at $129.99 from PBS Home Video.
