New Line has announced a slew of releases for Hairspray, but most exciting is their first foray into the high definition ring.

A single disc edition of the DVD will arrive with no features to speak of, while a 2-disc Shake and Shimmy Edition will carry the documentary You Can’t Stop the Beat, deleted scenes, audio commentaries, a dance featurette, a new musical number and a dance tutorial. a Gift set edition comes with the two disc DVD as well as a metal locker and a tote bag.

Also arriving on that day is New Line’s first Blu-ray title which will carry all the 2 disc special features as well as a picture in picture option called Behind the Beat. An HD-DVD version will be released as well, but customers will have to wait for a while. It will contain the same features as well as internet connectivity.

The single disc DVD is prices at $28.98 with the 2-disc version prices at $34.99. The Blu-ray and HD-DVD will have prices set soon. All but the HD-DVD version will arrive on November 20th. New Line is indicating that this will be a pretty standard setup for the near future – releasing Blu-ray and DVD the same day, with HD-DVD following soon after.
