Universal Home Entertainment has also just unveiled information about December releases of Martin Scorsese’s Casino and the blockbuster The Scorpion King in HD-DVD.

In “Casino, ” Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone and Joe Pesci star in director Martin Scorsese’s riveting look at how blind ambition, white-hot passion and 24-karat greed toppled an empire. Las Vegas 1973 is the setting for this fact-based story about the Mob’s multi-million dollar casino operation where fortunes and lives were made and lost with the roll of the dice. The HD-DVD version will feature a 1080p video transfer and Dolby Digital Plus audio tracks in English, French and Spanish. You will find all the supplements from the 10th Anniversary Special Edition DVD on this HD-DVD disc as well.

“Casino” will be in stroes on December 19 for $29.98.

Once again the disc will feature a 1080p transfer of the movie, complemented by Dolby Digital Plus audio tracks. All the extras from the Collector’s Edition DVD will be included, but sadly found only on the DVD side of the release. “The Scorpion King” will also be released on December 19 and cost you a good $10 extra for a DVD-version you most likely don’t need, so be prepared to pay $39.98 for this disc.
