The latest spin-off in the Star Trek franchise is now also coming to DVD, courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment. Today the studio just announced a DVD version of the entire first season of the TV show for release on May 22.

Set in the 22nd century, a hundred years before James T. Kirk helmed the famous starship of the same name, ENTERPRISE takes place in an era when interstellar travel is still in its infancy. Captain Jonathan Archer (Scott Bakula) has assembled a crew of brave explorers to chart the galaxy on a revolutionary spacecraft: Enterprise NX-01. As the first human beings to venture into deep space, these pioneers will experience the wonder and mystery of the final frontier as they seek out new life and new civilizations.

The 7-disc DVD set features all 25 episodes from the show’s first season and comes in an anamorphic widescreen transfer complete with 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track. The pilot episode, “Broken Bow,” has an audio commentary by Brannon Braga and Rick Berman; three episodes, “Broken Bow,” “The Andorian Incident” and “Vox Sola” have text commentary by Michael Okuda and Denise Okuda.

Also included on the release are seven featurettes, entitled “Creating Enterprise”; “O Captain! My Captain! A Profile of Scott Bakula”; “Cast Impressions: Season One”; “Inside Shuttlepod One”; “Star Trek Tine Travel: Temporal Cold Wars and Beyond”; “Enterprise Secrets”; “Admiral Forrest Takes Center Stage.” The DVD set will be rounded out by Deleted Scenes and Outtakes

Get ready for launch on May 22 when Paramount Home Entertainment will put “Star Trek Enterprise: The Complete First Season” on retail shelves for around $100.
