Warner Home Entertainment is getting ready to release a special two-disc version of the early sci-fi film that launched the career of a young George Lucas. But like most Lucas films, the movie has been a little re-invented in THX 1138 – The Director’s Cut..

The film as presented on the new DVD will have additional footage and new CGI effects created by ILM inserted into the film.

The film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1. The disc also includes audio commentary by George Lucas and Walter Murch, an isolated sound effects track, the documentaries “A Legacy of Filmmakers: The Early Years of American Zoetrope” and “Artifact of the Future”, the original short film on which the movie was based and theatrical trailers.

The two-disc set will be priced at $26.95 and will be released on September 14th of this year.
