La Strada comes from Criterion

Perhaps the most requested Fellini film on DVD, La Strada will finally arrive thanks to the good people at Criterion.

There has never been a face quite like that of Giulietta Masina. Her husband, the legendary Federico Fellini, directs her as Gelsomina in La Strada, the film that launched them both to international stardom. Gelsomina is sold by her mother into the employ of Zampanò, a brutal strongman in a traveling circus. When Zampanò encounters an old rival in highwire artist the Fool, his fury is provoked to its breaking point.

The film will be preserved in its original fullscreen ratio in mono. Extras include an introduction by Martin Scorsese, audio commentary, the documentary “Federico Fellini’s Autobiography”, an essay and the theatrical trailer.

The disc will arrive on November 11th with a suggested retail price of $39.95. For those collecting Criterion titles, the spine number will be 219.
