Dark Angel comes from Fox

James Cameron delved into the world of television with the popular if short-lived action series Dark Angel. The first season is coming to DVD from Twentieth Century Fox this spring.

The 2000-2001 season, the first of two introduced us to Max. She was designed to be the perfect soldier. She was trained as a weapon. But then she escaped. They came after her, and she knew they would never stop looking. She was lucky…a few months later, terrorists set off an electro-magnetic pulse that fried all the computers. The U.S. went from superpower to third-world country overnight. It was easy to disappear. Now she has an unlikely ally. Logan Cale, underground cyber-journalist and crusader. He wants to save the world, or what’s left of it. She just wants to find the others like her. Together…who knows?

All episodes will be presented in their original fullscreen with audio in Dolby Surround 2.0. Audio commentary will be provided on the episodes “Pilot”, “Rising”, “And I Am A Camera” and “…And Jesus Bought A Casserole”. Three featurettes are included, “Genesis”, “Seattle Ain’t What It Used To Be” and “Creating An X-5”, as are audition tapes, a gag reel, and a trailer for the “Dark Angel” video game.

The upcoming set will be priced at $59.95. It hurts to put down The X-Files box sets, which truly set a standard for television release, but they could learn a thing or two from the Dark Angel’s extra features and reasonable pricing.
