Criterion is presenting the 1973 Swedish film My Life as a Dog as a fairly well-rounded special edition this spring.

“My Life as a Dog” tells the story of Ingemar, a working-class twelve-year-old sent to live with his uncle in a country village when his mother falls ill. Once there, Ingemar finds refuge from his misfortunes and unexpected adventure with the help of the town’s warmhearted eccentrics. A bittersweet ecovation of the struggles and joys of childhood, this film features an incredibly mature and unaffected performance by lead actor Anton Glanzelius.

Coming with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, the disc will also include the short film with director Lasse Fallstrom “Shall We Go to My Place or Your Place or Each Go Home Alone?”, a video interview with Hallstrom, reflections on the film by Kurt Vonnegut and a theatrical trailer.

The DVD will be available on March 11th with a suggested retail price of $39.95.
