One of the early spectacle films, The Thief of Bagdad thrilled audiences 62 years ago and is still an enjoyable film today. MGM Home Entertainment is prepared to release the classic to DVD this December.

Fifteen-year-old Sabu plays Abu, a clever vagabond determined to defeat the evil Jaffar and restore the rightful ruler to the throne. Abu knows he must rely on all his courage and cunning to complete his glorious quest. And, luckily, he has help from an unexpected source: a hulking 50-foot genie who will grant three wishes if Abu frees him from a bottle!

The film’s original mono score and fullscreen color presentation will be preserved and will be accompanied by an original theatrical trailer.

Coming on December 3rd, the film will have a suggested retail price of $19.98.
