Elite brings horror classics to DVD
Elite Entertainment is preparing to launch their Millennium line of DVDs with two of the defining films of the horror genre; George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and a two disc set of Re-Animator. Both films will be out this spring.
Many horror films complicate themselves with detailed plots, but not “Night of the Living Dead”. An unlucky group finds themselves trapped in a rural home surrounded by hoards of zombies intent upon eating the living.
The original black and white video and mono soundtrack, as well as a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, will be augmented by a two audio commentaries featuring the vocal talents of director George Romero and the entire cast. The parody film “Night of the Living Bread” will be included as will a rare color photo gallery of Romero’s company, scenes from the “lost” Romero film, interviews with stars Judy Ridley and Duane Jones, a poster gallery, the shooting script, cast member’s scrapbooks, television spots, short films by Romero and liner notes by Romero and Steven King.
In “Re-Animator”, Herbert West is obsessed with the idea of bringing the dead back to life. Experimenting with a glowing green liquid fluid, he successfully reanimates dead tissue. Unfortunately, the dead are uncontrollable and difficult to subdue. Dr. Carl Hill, West’s instructor, is determined to steal his secret and take all the credit for his discovery. Herbert isn’t willing to give up so easily, no matter what the consequences are!
Disc one will contain an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the film and no less than six audio tracks including DTS 5.1 Digital Surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, an isolated 5.1 Dolby Digital Music Score, original 2.0 mono mix, an audio commentary with director Stuart Gordon and a second commentary with producer Brian Yuzna and actors Jeffrey Combs, Robert Sampson, Barbara Crampton and Bruce Abbott. Disc two will contain the extras which include new video interviews with Stuart Gordon, Brian Yuzna, writer Dennis Paoli, composer Richard Band and Fangoria editor Tony Timpone. Also included are sixteen extended scenes and one deleted scens, a Theatrical trailer, five televisions spots, discussions with Richard Band, multi-angle story boards for three scenes, a behind the scenes photo gallery and cast and crew biographies/filmographies.
