MGM dresses up Mannequin

The eighties romantic comedy Mannequin has become something of a cult classic and helped to launch the career of a young Kim Cattrall. MGM Home Entertainment has greenlit a new DVD of the film set for a Christmas release.

Jonathan Switcher has certainly been living up to his name. A frustrated artist, he switches from one dead-end job to another, never managing to hold on to any of them. But all of that changes when a mannequin he created for a department store window comes magically to life! Gorgeous and statuesque, this fiberglass femme fatale helps Jonathan turn his career around, inspiring him to be the best window dresser in town. But she soon discovers that the real world isn’t so easy, when they run into competitors who want to put them out of business – for good!

Coming in both anamorphic widescreen and pan & scan, “Mannequin” is presented in its original Dolby Surround. While lighter on features than several impressive special editions from MGM, the 1987 comedy does come with an original theatrical trailer.

Coming on December 26th, just before the end of the year, the movie that makes miracles happen will show up in shop windows for $14.95.
