DVD gets warmed up by St. Elmo’s Fire
Arguably the most touching of the Brat Pack films, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment’s emotional drama St. Elmo’s Fire spoke to a generation of youth searching for direction, the same way films like “American Graffiti” and “Rebel Without a Cause” spoke to previous generations. Now sixteen years later, perhaps a new batch of teens may discover this film when it comes to DVD this November.
Fresh from college, seven friends search for their places in the real world. Each of them archetypes for the dilemmas all young adults must face; Billy, who can’t keep a steady job. Wendy, whose parents refuse to accept her. Kirby, who can’t get over lost love. Alex and Kevin who both pursue the uncertain Leslie, and Jules who seems to encounter every problem imaginable. Only through the moral support they provide each other can any of them survive.
The new Special Edition DVD of “St. Elmo’s Fire” will be presented with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and audio in 2-Channel Dolby Surround and 4.0 Discreet Dolby Surround. An audio commentary by director Joel Schumacher will be included along with an original featurette, a music video, filmographies and theatrical trailers.
“St. Elmo’s Fire” is coming on November 20th with a suggested retail price of $19.95.
