Columbia brings the original waif musical to DVD

Columbia TriStar Home Video is set to release the original film version of Annie to DVD this November.

‘Annie’ is the story of a plunky , red-haired girl who dreams of life outside her dreary orphanage. One day, Annie (Aileen Quinn) is chosen to stay for one week with the famous billionaire ‘Daddy’ Warbucks. (Albert Finney) One week turns into many, and the only person standing in the way of Annie’s fun is Miss Hannigan, the gin- soaked ruler of the orphanage (played to perfection by Carol Burnett). Will Miss Hannigan’s zany attempts to kidnap the irrepressible Annie succeed? Full of unforgettable songs, including ‘It’s a Hard-Knock Life’ and the ubiquitous ‘Tomorrow.’

Directed by the great John Huston, the movie stars Aileen Quinn, Albert Finney, Carol Burnett, Bernadette Peters, Ann Reinking, and Tim Curry.

Columbia will present ‘Annie’ in both an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Pan & Scan version, along with a Dolby 2-Channel soundtrack. Extras include: original advertising, talent files, and trailers for ‘Annie’ and Stuart Little.

The disc will be available on November 14th. The suggested retail price will be $24.95.
