Star Trek details come with a grain of salt
The full specs for the second season of Star Trek on DVD are are out and already stirring up some discussion. The information from Paramount is below.
The new set will feature the episodes remastered with both old and new effects with audio in both mono and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Extras on the disc include trailers for each episode, Billy Blackburn’s Treasure Chest, Starfleet Access on Amok Time and The Trouble With Tribbles, the featurettes To Boldly Go… Season Two, Designing the Final Frontier, Star Trek’s Favorite Moments, Writer’s Notebook: D.C. Fontana, Life Beyond Trek: Leonard Nimoy, Kirk, Spock & BoneS: Star Trek’s Great Trio and Star Trek’s Devine Diva: Nichelle Nichols.
Additionally, a whole slew of features comes with The Trouble With Tribbles including audio commentary and the tribble centric featurettes Uniting Two Legends, An Historic Endeavor and Star Trek: The Original Series on Blu-ray. The interesting part comes with the inclusion of two bonus episodes; More Tribbles, More Troubles from the ’70s animated series and Trials and Tribbelations from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The press release indicates both of these episodes will be presented in high definition which would be quite an amazing feature if true. Confirmation on this will likely come on this soon.
Additional controversy comes from the extra featurettes Writing Spock, Creating Chekov, Listening to the Actors and Spock’s Mother which will only be available on mobile devices.
The set is set to arrive on September 22nd.
