Even more big news on Star Trek
September will also bring the films of Star Trek: The Next Generation to Blu-ray and new DVD releases from Paramount. The new five disc set will contain the films from 1994 – 2002 as a box set.
Star Trek: Generations on DVD will contain commentary with David Carson and Manny Coto and the featurettes Next Generation Designer Flashback: Andrew Probert, Stellar Carography on Earth, Brent Spinder: Data and Beyond Part 1, Trek Roundtable: Generations, Starfleet Academy: Trilithium and Scoring Trek. The Blu-ray will contain all of the above along with a second commentary by Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore, Library Computer, production featurettes, visual effects featurettes, scene deconstructions, a tribute to Matt Jeffries, and the featurettes The Enterprise Lineage, Captain Picard’s Family Album and Creating 24th Century Weapons, deleted scenes, storyboards, a production gallery, trailers and BD-Live. No word on whether more deleted scenes will be available than were present on the existing DVD.
Star Trek: First Contact on DVD contains new audio commentary by Damon Lindelof and Anthony Pascale, and the featurettes Industrial Light & Magic – The Next Generation, Greetings from the International Space Station, SpaceShipOne’s Historic Flight, Brent Spiner: Data and Beyond Part 2, Trek Roundtable: First Contact and Starfleet Academy: Temporal Vortex. The Blu-ray also contains commentary by Jonathan Frakes, commentary by Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore, Library Computer, production featurettes, scene deconstructions, a tribute to Jerry Goldsmith, the additional featurettes The Legacy of Zefram Cochrane, First Contact: The Possibilities, the featurettes formerly from the Borg Collective set, storyboards and photo gallery, trailers and Star Trek I.Q..
Star Trek Insurrection will contain commentary by Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis, the featurette Westmore’s Legacy, Marina Sirtis: The Counselor is In, Brent Spiner: Data and Beyond Part 3, Trek Roundtable: Insurrection and Starfleet Academy: The origins of the Ba’ku and Son’a Conflict on DVD. On Blu-ray fans will also get Library Computer access, production featurettes, the featurettes Westmore’s Aliens, Star Trek’s Beautiful Alien Women, Creating the Illusion, deleted scenes, storyboards, photo gallery ,trailers amd Trek I.Q..
Star Trek: Nemesis will come with the following features on DVD; commentary with Michael and Denise Okuda, the featurettes Reunion with the Rikers, Today’s Tech, Tomorrow’s Data, Robot Hall of Fame, Brent Spiner: Data and Beyond Part 4, Trek Roundtable: Nemesis and Starfleet Academy: Thalaron Radiation. The Blu-ray also carries a commentary with Stuart Baird and a commentary with Rick Berman, Library Computer, the featurettes A STar Trek Family’s Final Journey, A Bold Vision of the Final Frontier, The Enterprise E, featurettes from The Roumulan Empire set, deleted scenes, storyboards, traiers and BD-Live.
Wait, there’s more. The fifth bonus disc on both sets includes the featurettes The Evolution of The Enterprise, Villains of Star Trek, I Love the Star Trek Movies, Farewell to Star Trek: The Experience, Klingon Encounter, Borg Incasion 4D and Charting the Final Frontier.
Both sets will arrive on September 22nd.
