It’s unusual to announce a DVD here with no information at all on supplements or release date, but if it can save our readers a few hundred dollars, it’s worth printing. Criterion completists have clamoured for years over the extremely limited run of the Marquis tale Salo, often fetching several hundred dollars in online auctions. The run of this disc was very low in the first place, because Criterion estimated the audience for the extremely sexual film would be limited. But that hasn’t stopped those who need to own every Criterion title.

So after some business over at Criterion, they have once again secured the rights to the title and will release it in a much broader release next year. More details as they come around.
