As the 17th season of wrapped this weekend, the eighth season is scheduled for a DVD release a little later this season. The box sets, which in the early days took a very long time to be released, are now coming at a respectible pace.

The set will include audio commentary on all episodes, deleted scenes, an animation showcases, several illustrated commentaries, deleted scenes, promotional spots, a sketch gallery and foreign language clips. Although its hard to complain about any of the wonderful Simpsons box sets, oddly missing seems to be the continuing documentaries on the creation of the series. The set will come in standard boxing as well as the plastic Maggie Head.

The Simpsons will crash on your couch on August 15th with a suggeste retail price of $49.98.
