The Day the Earth Stood Still will be soon.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is not only preparing a DVD release of the classic science fiction film The Day the Earth Stood Still, but they are preparing a pretty respectable set of features to accompany it this winter.
Klaatu is a peaceful visitor to the planet Earth after the end of World War II. He brings important news to all nations, but the first thing the Earthers do is gun him down. As Klaatu recovers, he learns the ways of Earth and eventually, along with his robot Gort, takes a new approach to delivering his message.
The film is restored and presented in its original black and white fullscreen presentation with mono sound. An audio commentary by director Robert Wise and Nicolas Meyer will be included as will newsreel footage of the premiere, a theatrical trailer, the documentary “The Making The Earth Stand Still”, a restoration comparison, and six still galleries.
All of this and more can be yours people of Earth. All you must do is wait until March 4th, pay $19.95 and utter Klaatu Barada Niktu.
